Variflex variants or flat foot

Hi everyone,

I’ve been looking into the Onshape design that uses the Össur Vari-Flex LP foot, and I had a few questions I’m hoping someone here might be able to clarify:

  1. What size of the Össur Vari-Flex LP foot is used in the Onshape design? I couldn’t find a clear reference to the exact size (e.g., 27, 28, 29, etc.) used as the basis for the model.

  2. Is the design compatible with other Vari-Flex LP sizes? For example, if the design was made around a specific size, would it still work with a size 27? More specifically, can the same proxy pyramid adapter/interface be reused across different foot sizes, or does that geometry change significantly between sizes?

  3. Flat foot (research papers / prototypes) In some papers and prototypes, I’ve seen a simplified “flat foot” version used instead of a commercial carbon foot:

    • What material is typically used for that flat foot (e.g., carbon fiber laminate, fiberglass, spring steel, etc.)?

    • What’s the usual fabrication process (layup, CNC machining, waterjet, etc.)?

    • Any guidance or references on how to replicate something similar for prototyping?

Any insights, measurements, or links to documentation would be really appreciated.
